Our Leisure & Resource Awareness program focuses on educating individuals with disabilities about the various leisure opportunities and resources available to them, empowering them to lead fulfilling and active lifestyles.

In our Learning New Leisure Skills sessions, we help individuals with disabilities acquire new skills and hobbies that align with their interests and abilities, promoting personal growth and enjoyment.

Our Social Skills Development program is designed to support individuals with disabilities in enhancing their social interactions, communication, and relationship-building skills, fostering meaningful connections and community engagement.

About the owner: AmySue Melville
 Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist 

AmySue received a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy from Central Michigan University in 1999. AmySue's passion for treating individuals with disabilities has always been focused on those who have sustained traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.  She enjoyed many years working in inpatient rehabilitation at Hope Network Rehabiliation where she developed a department of 5 CTRS’, A Horticultural Therapist and Multiple Rehabilitation Assistances.

 

AmySue transitioned to the home and community base setting working for both Strive Recreation Therapy, Home & Community Recreation Therapy and Rehab Without Walls. She established Recreation Therapy Consultants in 2011 based on a clear need for this service and level of care.

 

RTC continues to grow with multiple Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists throughout the state. She believes in following ones true passions in life which includes fulfilling and enjoying fitness, outdoor activities, woodworking, creating art out of nothing, organizing, traveling and many other activities with her husband and 4 children. She also believes that life is not perfect and we all need support throughout life.
